Summer Camps
Experiences Beyond the Classroom
At Durham Nativity School, we believe in a holistic education. We embrace the concept of learning taking place beyond the classroom. Providing varied instructional venues enables students to explore, discover, and gain knowledge about themselves and the core curriculum. They learn from other people with whom they interact and the world in which they live.
Throughout the year, our students receive a blend of traditional classroom instruction along with field and camp experiences, educational travel, and cultural experiences. Examples include hands-on activities at Duke Vivarium and the Duke Physics lab, performances at the PlayMakers Repertory Company, Earth Day at IBM, a week at the Youth Scholar Academy in Washington D.C., and a trip to Uganda with one of Duke’s surgical teams. These, and others, greatly impact learning and bring the curriculum come to life.
Scholarships provide opportunities for our students to experience summer camps which include:
- Camp Challenge
- Camp Oak Hill
- Camp Sea Gull
- Carolina Friends Summer Camps
- Duke School Art Camp
